Please join us in the Rietveld/Sandberg library next week, Tuesday 17 May—for a playful writing workshop focused engaging with language, material, categorisation and storytelling—hosted by Toni Brell and Naomi Credé.
Materialising Materials is part of the Materiality research trajectory within Sandberg Research; over the past year, multiple researchers have been invited to speculate different aspects and understandings of materiality in relation to art & design education within the Rietveld/Sandberg.

This workshop is open to all students from Rietveld and Sandberg - all levels of engagement with writing and material practices welcome!
Toni Brell is a multidisciplinary designer, who explores the narrative potential of different media, from code to sound to text to performance. In particular Toni is interested in the question of how the materials they use influence the narratives they tell. In 2021 Toni received a master's degree from the Sandberg Instituut Amsterdam. Previously, they studied theater and media studies at the University of Bayreuth and worked as a dramaturge. Next to their design-practice, Toni recently joined the interdisciplinary research-collective Scores for Gardens, that explores garden studies, forms of embodied research and reciprocal learning. Toni works with text, sound, image, code and performance.

Naomi Credé is an artist and writer whose research revolves around experiences and understandings of bodily control in relation to real and fictional spaces, particularly in response to sensations such as dizziness, disorientation and exhaustion. She works primarily with sound and text—using voice as both a material and a focal point of her research—resulting in immersive installations, radio broadcasts, writing, performances and readings. Naomi graduated from Studio for Immediate Spaces in 2018 and now works as a coordinator of educational and research projects at the Sandberg Insituut. She is also a co-founder of Amsterdam based collective Fabulous Future.
