In April, we announced that the Lectorate Art & Spatial Praxis (LASP) was awarded a Seedling Grant by the Centre of Expertise for Creative Innovation (CoECI). We are now excited to share more about the project that this grant has made possible.
Rehearsing Futures: Strategies for Living Otherwise is a collaboration between the Lectorate Art & Spatial Praxis (LASP) at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and the Lectorate Academie voor Theater en Dans (ATD) at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten. Together they are interested in how creative and artistic practices can contribute to imagining and rehearsing different ways of living together, and responding to the societal transitions of our time.
Rehearsing Futures: Strategies for Living Otherwise is a collaboration between the Lectorate Art & Spatial Praxis (LASP) at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and the Lectorate Academie voor Theater en Dans (ATD) at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten. Together they are interested in how creative and artistic practices can contribute to imagining and rehearsing different ways of living together, and responding to the societal transitions of our time.
For this project, they bring together a small group of people who engage with questions around the city and housing from different perspectives, practices and positions. A big part of the project is their interest in investigating what happens when these different forms of knowledge meet, and what artistic and embodied practices might allow us to think, move and organise differently.
A question guiding the work is:
Who does the city of Amsterdam cater to?
The coalition has been thinking about the city as something one can listen to, respond to and speak through. This autumn, we will explore music as a collective process and the city as a megaphone, working towards a collective intervention for the Woonopstand, taking place on 10 October in Amsterdam.
