Eva Hoonhout is the project coordinator at the Research Group on Algorithmic Cultures at Gerrit Rietveld Academie. She works as an artist and freelance creative producer and studied fine arts at AKV St. Joost in Breda and Studio For Immediate Spaces at Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam. Her practice is multidisciplinary and often shows sculptures and installations that emerge from everyday situations. She considers the copy-paste act as a generative process to explore; it has a certain potential to create something new, and at the same time it can be misleading in its recognizable form. In recent work Hoonhout is researching the digital and physical representation of self-care, from the necessity to the performativity of its growing presence.
'In Search of Money', held on 29 March 2023, was about how art and design within capitalism are driven by money. We considered if culture, like people, is inevitably cast in a role of extremes - money-making machine or oppressed victim. The symposium was hosted by journalist and researcher Gabrielle Kennedy and the speakers were: Charlotte Rohde, Gijs de Boer, Ruben Pater and Cesar Majorana.
You are cordially invited to the conference 'In Search of Money' on March 29, 17:00-19:00 hrs at the Rietveld Academie.
